GeoComply Reports a 14% Increase in Active Accounts for Super Bowl LIX

Geolocation compliance technology provider GeoComply reported a 14% increase in active players over the Super Bowl LIX weekend compared to Super Bowl LXIII weekend. During Super Bowl LIX, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22.

GeoComply recorded nearly 535,000 geolocation transactions from over 60,000 active accounts in New Orleans over the Super Bowl weekend. Active users within the city increased by 220%, and transactions increased by 150% compared to the previous week. Overall, more than 724,000 new accounts were created over Super Bowl weekend at sportsbooks partnered with GeoComply.

According to GeoComply, the increase in active accounts is, on average, twice as high in states where regulators have taken action to prevent illegal offshore sportsbooks from operating. Since last year’s Super Bowl, 14 states have issued cease and desist orders to at least one illegal betting platform.

Anna Sainsbury, CEO and Co-Founder of GeoComply commented on the report, “When states take enforcement action, we see a correlation with increased engagement on our customer’s platforms. More fans are choosing legal sportsbooks, driven by stronger consumer protections and enhanced user experiences. This means even greater tax revenues to support local communities and promote responsible growth while reducing reliance on illegal sportsbooks.”
