With Puerto Rico officially legalizing sports betting in 2019 and BetMGM becoming the first sportsbook to launch in the US territory in 2022, MediaTroopers is now finally joining in on the action. The prominent digital marketing agency recently announced that it has officially launched in the Island of Enchantment.

Puerto Rico opened its doors to legal online gambling in June 2019, when HB 2038 was signed into law. Then it wasn’t until November 2021 when the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission started accepting applications for online gambling operators.
BetMGM is the only legal sports betting platform currently live on the island, with the brand launching its retail sportsbook in February 2022 and its mobile platform in June 2023 after partnering with the Casino Del Mar at La Concha Resort.
However, it may not be long before other leading brands launch in Puerto Rico. For example, DraftKings announced a partnership in Puerto Rico with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, ultimately expanding the brand’s vast footprint in the legal online sports betting market. The tribe operates the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino in Carolina, PR, which may soon be the home of a retail DraftKings sportsbook.
