The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has released its gambling report for November 2024, revealing gross receipts from online casinos broke the record set the month prior, with casinos collecting $226 million. The previous high from October was $220.7 million. Sports betting gross receipts brought the total gaming total to $284.3 million, a 12.1% increase month-on-month.
Monthly adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for online casinos hit $203.3 million, a 2.4% increase month-on-month. The November 2024 figure is 28.9% higher than the amount collected in November 2023.
AGR hit $37.1 million on the sports betting front, $27.2 million higher than October 2024. Sports betting revenues across the US slipped in October thanks to bettor-friendly results, so, unsurprisingly, the November 2024 total is much higher than the month before. Sports betting AGR increased by $36.8 million year-on-year.
That sports betting AGR came from a sports betting handle of $650.2 million, a rise of 16% on the handle in October. That handle is also the highest in Michigan sports betting history.
From all the gaming revenue generated in November 2024, Michigan collected $44.4 million in taxes. $42.5 million came from online casinos and igaming, while sports betting added another $1.9 million.
The three casinos in Detroit contributed $11.2 million in taxes, with $10.6 million coming from igaming and over $564,000 collected from sports betting. Tribal operators added $5.2 million to the tax total in November.
