The Weirdest Super Bowl LIX Prop Bets

One of the many standard traditions accompanying the Super Bowl returns this year: utterly bizarre prop bets. Yes, betting on the game’s outcome is classic, but getting creative with the bets makes it more fun.

There are prop bets regarding how often certain people, like NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or celebrities like Taylor Swift, appear during the broadcast. Other wagers include a fan running onto the field, the “streaker” bet, or if a kicker will hit the upright or crossbar on a missed field goal or extra point attempt.

Another popular prop bet involves the color of Gatorade, which will be dumped on the winning coach. Orange has traditionally been the favorite, but over the past couple of years, blue has become a challenger, having been the color of choice in each of the last two Super Bowls.

Purple has an early lead across a few sportsbooks with +185, with red being a close second at +260. If the person making this wager likes longer-odd bets, they could even wager +2000 that no liquid will be poured at all.

One of the most simple and strangely appealing prop bets is the result of the coin toss. It’s a true 50/50 proposition, as bettors can take heads or tails, and teams that have won the toss historically come out on the losing end, 25-31.

Interestingly, the Kansas City Chiefs recently broke a seven-game losing streak for coin toss winners, highlighting the unpredictable nature of this seemingly simple bet.
