Detroit’s land-based casinos collected more than $108 million in revenue in November, a new report from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) reveals. The total includes around $106 million from slots and table games and just under $2 million generated by retail sports betting at the casino’s sportsbooks – BetMGM at MGM Grand Detroit, FanDuel at MotorCity, and ESPN BET at Hollywood Casino.
Compared to October, revenue rose by 5.3%. However, revenue surged more significantly year-on-year. The total marks a 40.1% increase from November 2023, when employees at all three casinos participated in strikes over pay and benefits. These strikes ran from October 17 to November 19, 2023.
In November 2024, MGM Grand Detroit led with $49.2 million in revenue from slots and table games, securing 46% of the market share. MotorCity Casino followed, claiming 31% of the market and close to $33.1 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated $24.2 million in monthly revenue, making up the remaining 23% of the market share.
The casinos contributed around $8.6 million in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan for November, up 38.7% year-over-year. They also reported $13.2 million in taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.
