Missouri sports betting votes have been finalized ahead of the deadline, which was set as Tuesday, December 10. The Board of State Canvassers confirmed this week that Amendment 2 passed by 2,961 votes, legalizing sports betting in the state.
A total of 2,954,343 Missourians cast their votes on election day, including 1,478,652 in favor of sports betting and 1,475,691 against. The margin of victory was less than 0.5%, meaning a recount could be requested. A spokesperson for the opposition campaign, the Missourians Against the Deceptive Online Gambling Amendment (MADOGA), has announced that it does not plan to do so.
It’s good news for the Winning for Missouri Education campaign, which contributed more than $40 million in support of the amendment. The majority of this funding came from sports betting giants DraftKings and FanDuel, which are likely seeking a license to operate in MO. The campaign was also backed by the state’s professional sports teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Current, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, and St. Louis CITY SC.
The Missouri Gaming Commission is now preparing to launch both online and retail wagering before the December 1, 2025, deadline.
